I signed up for a new course called Divi Stylist Academy! I am particularly excited about this because I feel it’s important to be the best I can and there is a lot of good information out there about Divi but there’s no structure to it and finding a mentor in the community has not been possible for me.
I have been taking on side work over the past couple of years with Beyond Creative Block where I have been bringing Lina’s designs to life using WordPress and Divi, so I feel that investing in this styling course is an investment in myself. The more time that goes on the more creative her designs become and I want to be prepared to be able to make anything she can dream up happen.
Now, at the time of writing this, Cherry Soda is not designed with Divi, but Lala Land and E-Starr are. The current design on E-Starr has been up for a few years and Divi has undergone quite a few changes since then, so I’m looking into redesigning that site over the coming weeks. And I’m planning to launch Lala Land very soon, with a fully custom design that resembles the old frames layouts we used to use when I first started the domain.
The reason Cherry Soda is not on Divi* is simple, it sucks at blog designs. I actually prefer Extra* for blogs, which is their magazine theme that has the Divi Builder built into it. It has a lot of nifty features that Divi doesn’t have, including color-coded categories. You can add these features to Divi, but it requires additional plugins or custom CSS. However, I’m not using that one either – yet. Extra also has some annoying limitations that Divi does not have.. so we’ll see how that goes.
I’m still in the process of setting up Cherry Soda and figuring out what it’s going to be and I am absolutely in love with the design of this Eight Blog theme I’m currently using. The free version is incredibly limited, but I’m not ready to customize it, anyway. More than likely, Eight will become the inspiration for my Divi or Extra designed site in the future.
