The Name
The name Cherry Soda came about because I love cherries and cherry flavored things, including soda. In particular, my favorite would be Cherry flavored Crush.
I originally tried to get a domain name that had the words “cherry” and “pop” in it and quickly found out that basically any name like that was going to be taken by the porn industry.

I don’t pay for this theme because I think it’s overpriced for what it is. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful and I love it, but I also enjoy customizing things and the few options the paid version gives can easily be coded in or added with a plugin. $99 for Pro is unreasonable imo.
Current WordPress Plugins:
Akismet (free) – Blocks comment spam, supposedly. We’ll see how that goes.
CMP Coming Soon & Maintenance Plugin (free) – If you can see this site right now then this plugin isn’t active, but it is useful and free.
Defender (free) – My choice of security plugins. It’s the only one I know of so far that hasn’t been hacked yet.
Read Meter (free) – Shows how long each article will take to read with a bar at the top of the page that fills up as you scroll down.
Stackable (free) – Gutenberg is kind of cool in some ways, and in other ways it’s lacking horribly. Thankfully I found this plugin that gives the blocks the functionality they should have had all along.
WP Dark Mode (free) – Allows me to toggle between light and dark mode in the admin area, as well as allowing my visitors to toggle between them in the front end.
History
2002-2022 // CherrySoda’s history prior to 2022 is long forgotten, except by the Way Back Machine. The archive dates back to 2002, so I guess this site is technically, in some way, 20 years old. In the past, CherrySoda has been a personal site blog, a hosting site, and a jump site for all of my projects.
